Please watch before reading. A short documentary on the Presidential debates.
This short documentary does a good job appealing to the average American. Many, like myself feel like this upcoming presidential election is more like voting for the lesser of two evils, as opposed to voting for the best man for the job. Here in America, it shouldn't be like that. Why all the exposure for only two political parties? Is this really Land of the Free?
I also found it especially interesting, the lengths in which the Republican and Democratic party nominees went to create the illusion of a "debate". Podiums were placed facing each other, and audience members were supposedly allowed to ask questions. But behind the scenes was obviously a much different story. Questions are hand picked by the judge, and audience members, the only true third party source in these debates, weren't allowed to ask follow up or clarification questions. In essence, a canidate could completely skirt around or ignore a question asked to them, without any type of reprecussion. This in itself, is a sad metaphor for modern politics today.
What I believe this country needs is unification, for us to work together to achieve common goals. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the end of the monopolization of politics between the Republicans and Democrats. Maybe getting rid of all political parties wouldn't be such a bad idea. Why not vote for the best person for this country, instead of the liberal, conservative, left or right wing. But that is a topic for another time...
